MISSION STATEMENT
At the EarthFair Store, our mission is to spark curiosity, celebrate sustainability, and connect people of all ages with the natural world—while having a whole lot of fun doing it! We’re more than just a place to shop; we’re a vibrant hub for eco-conscious living, local creativity, and community connection.
And did we mention? The EarthFair Store is also a shining example of green innovation. From energy-efficient lighting and heat pumps to buried overhead cables, updated electrical systems, and plans for solar power on the horizon, we’re walking the talk when it comes to sustainability—one bright (and eco-friendly) idea at a time!

Tranquility Garden
Tucked behind the EarthFair Store in the heart of Madeira Park, the Tranquility Garden is exactly what it sounds like—a little slice of peace, nature, and community magic. It’s the kind of place where you can take a deep breath, follow a winding path through native plants, and let the sound of a gentle waterfall wash your worries away. Need a break? Find a cozy bench, a shady spot, or hang out by the fire pit.
But this isn’t just a quiet corner—it’s also a vibrant gathering place. With a stage that can host over 250 people, the garden is a natural venue for events that celebrate science, ecology, art, and culture. It’s a space made for connection, inspiration, and good conversation (aka a great spot for a good ol’ natter).
Thanks to the incredible support of PacificCan, generous local donors, and community champions, the Tranquility Garden has blossomed into a true gem. Whether you’re in the mood for a quiet moment, a lively event, or just a stroll through something beautiful, this garden invites you to pause, breathe, and enjoy the now.
It’s a place to gather, reflect, and remember that sometimes, the best kind of discovery is simply being present.
Our History
The EarthFair Store in Madeira Park is built on a foundation of community spirit, environmental stewardship, and a shared commitment to conscious living. Originally launched as Bluewaters Books by Dr. Michael and Dale Jackson in the early 2000s, the store operated for ten years under their care before being generously donated to the Pender Harbour Ocean Discovery Station (PODS) Foundation. Their incredible gift is the reason the EarthFair Store exists today.
What began as a grassroots effort to offer sustainable, ethically sourced alternatives to everyday goods has grown into a vibrant community hub. Today, the store offers everything from eco-friendly household products and fair-trade gifts to locally made goods and books by regional authors and from local publishers such as Harbour Publishing.
More than just a place to shop, the EarthFair Store is a gathering space for education, inspiration, and connection—reflecting Pender Harbour’s dedication to collaboration and care for the Earth. Its continued success is a powerful reminder that small, mindful choices can lead to meaningful change.
